What is Ozone?

Ozone is created naturally in nature with sunlight interacting with organics and during lighting storms or during electrical discharges. This is one of nature’s ways of purification. The oxygen (O2) atom is split leaving a single atom. This single atom will then bond to other O2 atoms creating O3, which is ozone or “activated oxygen”. This activated oxygen is unstable and attacks the cellular structure of hydrocarbon molecules and odors. In addition to eliminating the odors at the cellular level, ozone kills molds, bacteria, viruses, and germs. After a short period of time, the ozone reverts back to breathable oxygen leaving behind a very fresh smell.

How is an Ozone treatment performed?

After all pets, plants, and people are out of the home, we place ozone generating machines and fans throughout the property to perform a “shock treatment” that will typically take 1-12 hours. A shock treatment is using high amounts of ozone to attack the odors and other molecules to eliminate them. The HVAC system is operated during treatment to reach odors/germs within the ductwork. After the treatment is complete, the property is aired out, all fans and equipment are packed up and the home is left with a fresh smell along with a sanitized environment.

How safe is an Ozone treatment?

Ozone treatments are extremely safe when performed by a qualified professional. The treatments are only completed in unoccupied spaces – meaning no pets, people, or plants. Post-treatment airing out will soon allow for safe re-entry.

Many cleaning products and deodorizers that are used within our homes are composed of harsh chemicals that are not healthy for skin contact, can be caustic to our eyes, and affect our breathing. Ozone, which is produced in nature, is safe and leaves behind no harmful chemicals. Talk about being Green!

Can Ozone help me?

If you have any odors within your home, condo, hotel, business, vehicle, camper, RV, or boat and want them eliminated – YES!

Common odors that we treat include smoke, pet, urine, mustiness/moldy, cooking, and stale air. The HVAC ductwork is also treated with ozone during the process to cleanse/sanitize. Our shock treatments typically are performed in less than 12 hours, but severe cases may take up to 24 hours.

Is my Ozone treatment Guaranteed?

We strive to see complete satisfaction for each client and we aim to eliminate 100% of odors, however, no one can guarantee that. We 100% guarantee that the offending odors will be lessened after treatment. We have found that about 90% of the time, the odors are reduced by 75-100%. In the event that a satisfactory reduction is not attained, we will be happy to retreat a second time at no cost.

The source of the odor must be removed/situation remedied to help ensure long-term success. For example, if a moisture issue is still present, the musty odors will return after treatment and cannot be guaranteed.

Painting the home decreases the effectiveness of the ozone treatment as it locks some of the odor molecules behind the paint.

What does the Ozone treatment NOT do?

The ozone treatment does not get rid of dust or remove dust from the HVAC ductwork.

The ozone treatment does not remove or remediate mildew/mold (it does kill fungi).

Who Needs an Ozone Treatment?

Prior to listing your home for sale, consider a treatment to eliminate odors throughout the home that could negatively affect prospective buyers. A fresh-smelling home will certainly sell faster and for more money!

After purchasing a home, having an ozone treatment will eradicate odors as well as germs, bacteria, and mildew/molds, giving you a fresh and sanitized environment to move into.

Do you have pets and although you try your best to clean, deodorize, and burn candles, you know there is still an odor? Did your puppy have some accidents and you are having a hard time getting the smell out? Ozone treatments can remove the odors that can only be temporarily masked with sprays, cleaners, and candles.

Maybe you are a former smoker or no longer smoke indoors, but the house still has that distinct odor. An ozone treatment can completely eliminate the smoke odor leaving your home fresh.

Have you had a water event or flood inside the home and although the water is gone, a musty odor remains? Ozone can handle that!

Do you love your wood-burning fireplace, but your house smells like a fire long after the embers have cooled? An ozone treatment can fix that.

Does your car or truck smell like food, smoke, weed, pets, a sweaty gym bag, or is musty? Ozone treatment can eliminate these odors while killing germs and bacteria too.

Do you own a rental property? Odors in rental properties affect your income. Complaints about smells from prospective tenants or short-term renters will cause you to lose money. Even if you charge a fee to the prior tenant, how are you really correcting the odor problem so that it doesn’t impact your next tenant? Consider ozone treatments to make sure that you get the best return on your investment.

Do you have a home gym/sauna? Does your kids bedroom/bathroom smell like a locker room? Ozone treatment can kill germs and bacteria leaving the areas fresh and clean.

Do you have stale odor in your home, camper, or RV because it sits unused for long periods of time? Ozone treatments are the fresh air that you need.

Are you a painting contractor and have been asked to eliminate odors during the painting process? Painting with fragrance can only temporarily mask the odors. Ozone treatments performed prior to painting are effective at long-term odor elimination.

How much does and Ozone Treatment cost?

The cost for an ozone treatment varies depending upon several factors including size of the property, location, type of odor, and severity of odor. These factors will dictate the time and methodology for treatment. The pricing chart below suggests pricing for most typical setups. Please call us to discuss your property and get exact pricing.
